Frequently
Asked Questions
DO
I HAVE TO SHARE THE YACHT?
No – it is possible to book
by the cabin but most people prefer to charter the whole
yacht. We will help you select the right yacht to suit
you and your party from a honeymoon for two up to larger
yachts for five couples.
WHAT
TYPE OF YACHTS ARE AVAILABLE?
A
whole range of yachts, catamarans,
monohulls and powerboats,
to suit all budgets and requirements are available.
Just contact
us for further
information or click here to search
for available yachts.
WHAT
IS A NORMAL CREWED YACHT CHARTER?
Depending on the location you
select for your charter, we will happily send you a
sample itinerary to give you a flavour of a typical
week in that particular area.
WHAT
WILL OUR CREW BE RESPONSIBLE FOR?
Your crew will be responsible
for every aspect of ensuring you have a safe and fun
holiday. Your chef will prepare all meals and snacks
and keep the boat clean and tidy. Your captain will
be responsible for running the yacht and your well being.
WHO
DECIDES THE SAILING ITINERARY?
This can be jointly decided between
yourself and the captain, or you can let the Captain
recommend the best route given your preferred activities.
This will also, of course, be influenced by local weather
conditions.
HOW MUCH WILL THIS COST?
Typically prices run between US$1500
and US$2500 per person for a week. In the Caribbean,
costs are normally all inclusive, including all meals,
an open bar and watersports. The rate is determined
by the size of the yacht, the area in which you’re
chartering, time of year and number of guests. As a
guide, sailing boats tend to be priced on a sliding
scale depending on number of guests whereas motorboats
you charter the entire yacht. As prices are frequently
revised and special offers become available we recommend
that that you contact
us for the latest price information and yacht
availability.
DO
I NEED INSURANCE?
Whilst the yacht will be fully
insured we recommend that you do take out standard holiday
insurance together with a cancellation policy. This
ensures that in the unfortunate event of you having
to cancel your trip due to no fault of your own, you
will be entitled to a re-fund.
DO
WE SAIL ALL DAY?
This will depend on the area in
which you’re sailing and the selected itinerary.
If you are looking to sail for just a couple of hours
each day, but mainly enjoy your time at anchor or ashore
and are looking for a holiday in the Caribbean, then
we recommend the British Virgin Islands.
WILL
WE BE ABLE TO ORDER SPECIAL DIET MENUS OR REQUEST FAVOURITE
BEVERAGES?
Absolutely!! Your crew will endeavour
to make sure that all special requests are met.
DO YOU HAVE ANY YACHTS
THAT TAKE TWO GUESTS FOR A HONEYMOON OR SPECIAL ANNIVERSARY
CELEBRATION?
Yes – it is becoming increasingly
popular to either get married or just honeymoon onboard
a yacht.
WILL
THIS BE A GOOD FAMILY HOLIDAY?
A crewed yacht vacation really
is the perfect family sailing holiday. A great way to
make sure that the kids are entertained, have fun and
are in a safe environment.
WILL
I BE ABLE TO MAKE AND RECEIVE PERSONAL PHONE CALLS FROM
THE YACHT?
Most yachts have the facility
to set up personal telephone accounts for their guests.
This should be checked when you book.
CAN
I SCUBA DIVE FROM THE YACHT?
Several yachts offer diving with
one of the crew being a dive master. Where this isn’t
the case, there are several rendez vous diving companies
who will be happy to come out to your yacht.
SHOULD
I TIP?
In the Caribbean yacht crews work
on the American system whereby a gratuity is received
for hard work and good service. This is not mandatory
and is up to the individual, but is generally between
10-20% of the charter price.
HOW
DO I REACH THE BVI AND WHERE DO I BOARD THE BOAT?
You need to fly to Beef Island
(code EIS) which is accessible via either San Juan (Puerto
Rico), St Thomas or Antigua. Crewed yachts are generally
boarded at Village Cay Marina, but we can give you more
advice when we know which boat you’re chartering
and where you’re coming from.
WHAT
HAPPENS ONCE I DECIDE TO GO AHEAD?
Once we’ve found you the
perfect yacht we’ll send you a contract to sign.
This is then forwarded to the Captain of the boat for
his signature and a copy sent back to you. At this point
a 50% deposit is required to secure the booking.
